How do I learn to ride the Segway?

All clients are required to take a 30 minute hands-on training session to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.  Riders are trained on Segway operation and emergency stops.   All riders are required to wear helmets (provided by Reno Fun Tours).

How safe is the Segway?

The utmost care and research has gone into ensuring that the Segway HT is safe and many thousands of hours of use have demonstrated that the Segway HT is safe when used appropriately.  It is important that Segway riders understand their responsibility to ride safely.  Proper skill level and understanding of the Segway HT prevents injuries caused by loss of control or misuse.

Who can ride the Segway?

Although riding the Segway HT is relatively easy, we do require that riders be at least 16 years of age (an adult or guardian must accompany riders under 18).  Also, riders should have the ability to make motions such as climbing and descending stairs without assistance.  The Segway is not appropriate for those weighing under 100 pounds or over 250 pounds.   All clients will be required to review and sign a liability waiver before starting the tour. 

How long does the tour last?

The instructional session will last about 30 minutes.  The  time "on the road" is about two hours.  During that time, we will make frequent stops for discussion and picture-taking.  About half way through the trip, we will stop for rest, drinks, and a bathroom stop.  Please arrive 15 minutes early as the tour will start on time.

Where does the tour depart from and is there parking?

We meet at the Adventure Desk at the Silver Legacy Hotel Casino.  This is downstairs, near valet parking.  If you choose to have your car parked, just pull up to valet parking at the Silver Legacy (from Sierra Street) and when you enter the building, you will see signs directing you to the desk.  If you want to self-park (free), enter the Silver Legacy parking garage from Sierra Street, take the elevator down to the hotel lobby, and then take the escalator to the ground level.  Follow the signs to the Adventure Desk. 

What do I wear on the tour? 

We want you to enjoy your Segway experience and suggest you wear comfortable clothes and shoes.   Reno Fun Tours will provide helmets and rain ponchos (if needed).  The Segways are equipped with small bags for cameras and small purses.  You may wish to bring sunglasses for sunny days and an extra jacket and gloves on cooler days.   Reno Fun Tours will provide a beverage for the tour.

Can I rent a Segway without a guide?

No.  Segways are only available for use with a guided tour.

Are the tours cancelled in case of rain?

No, our tours run rain or shine.  We have ponchos available for anyone who needs them and the Segways run just fine in all weather.  Reno Fun Tours will determine if the tour is cancelled due to severe weather such as lightning, flooding, snow, etc.  Call us 1 - 2 hours prior to the tour to confirm a tour delay or cancellation due to inclement weather.  If your tour is cancelled by us, your tour fee will be refunded.

What happens if I have to cancel?

Reservations are fully refundable if the reservation is cancelled 24 hours or more prior to the scheduled tour.   Cancellations within 24 hours of the tour or a "no show" will be charged the full price of the tour. 

Do I need a Security Deposit?

Yes, a valid picture ID and a credit card: Visa, Discover, or MasterCard, or American Express will be required for a security deposit on each Segway.  This charge is immediately cancelled at the end of the tour (assuming no damage) and will not even appear on your statement.  All damage to the Segway is the responsibility of the rider. 

Can I arrange for a private group event?

Reno Fun Tours can accommodate a party of six riders.
